Welcome to The Food For Thought Game!
With a starting point in a daily diet, you may use this game to:
- Increase the general food literacy by introducing relevant (and often) independent dimensions of food.
- Illustrate the consequence of the type of ingredients, e.g. by comparing a plant-based lasagna with a meat-based one.
- Show the impact of portion size and cooking methods (e.g. gas vs. air fryer).
- Show the consequence of skipping snacks or/and dessert.
- Introduce different end-user segments (personas, or avatars) and their individual food needs, habits and life style choices.
outline of the game
Your mission (as a team or an individual player) in the Food For Thought Game is to create a daily diet that fulfills the requirements of your secret Avatar. Your Avatar represents different nutritional needs, individual lifestyles and ways of looking at food.
In the game you will have to juggle between 16 different meal dimensions related to gastronomic experience, environmental footprint, price and nutritional values. The game does not include vitamins and minerals.
The game is based on realistic portion sizes and typical meals.
A day consists of six meals (of which three are snacks) and three beverages.
Your opponent might want to interfere with your mission (using the Advice Cards) so keep an eye on your daily diet – and one on your opponentĀ“s.
All meal dimensions have been given a colour code based on a statistical analysis per dimension and meals.
Use the meal cards to compare different meals, portions sizes, cooking techniques and different user needs.
