Knowledge/Data Contributions

The Food For Thought Game has been brought to life with the input from the following organizations from Denmark and Portugal which all form part of the Erasmus+ project consortium selected to create this game:

The Danish company Anths is responsible for the calculation of all carbon emissions (carbon foot print) and has participated in the initial game testing with Danish school children.

The data sources and calculations for the carbon footprint (greenhouse gas emissions) can be downloaded from here.

The Portuguese company Inventive Planet is responsible for the game play, the graphical game design, the game artifacts, the price index calculations, the project web site and has participated in game testing with Danish school children.

The data sources and price index calculations can be downloaded in a pdf file from here. The main assumptions for the cost calculations are:

  • All price indices are based on Danish supermarket prices as of Autumn 2023. The prices from e.g. Portuguese supermarkets are lower but overall relatively almost the same.
  • The cost of cooking a meal (gas, electricity) has been estimated to zero.

The Portuguese company Lisbon Cooking Academy is responsible for the recipes and the gastronomic grading of the different meals.

  • The flavour index is based on the total score of flavour balance, texture, statisfaction/aromas, and meal harmony.
  • The Quality of ingredients index is based on the total score of the quality of each ingredient and its impact on the final meal.
  • The preparation index is based on the total score of preparation time, number of ingredients, number of recipe steps and utensils used to prepare the meal.

The recipes and related data can be downloaded from here.

The Portuguese NGO Associação Vegetariana Portuguesa is responsible for the calculations of land use and water use as well as for the final user-testing of the game.

The recipes and related data can be downloaded from here (the data file is identical to the file for the carbon footprint).

The Danish Company Klinisk Diætist Julie Petersen has calculated all nutritional data and participated in the initial game testing with Danish school children.

The data sources and calculations for the nutritional figures can be downloaded in a pdf file from here.
